South Carolina Commuting Patterns
South Carolina Commuting Patterns are based on the U.S. Census Bureau’s OnTheMap
web application. The information shows where people work and where workers live.
The summaries display workplace and residential distribution by geographies down
to the census block level detail. The summaries also show demographic attributes
of the workforce.1
The ten counties selected had the highest differential between inflow and outflow
commuters. Page one of each two-page report highlights data and graphics from the
Inflow/Outflow
2 report of the web application and presents a general overview of the
county’s commuting patterns. The left column of page two shows a home-to-work analysis
with information on where county residents work. The right column of page two shows
a work-to-home analysis with information on where workers who have jobs in the county
live.
A statewide report has a similar layout as the county reports. The “South Carolina Commuting Patterns Table" presents a summary
of inflow/outflow information for all counties.
